Property - Local Facilities
Casa del Mulo is built on three levels with a pretty courtyard and lovely roof terrace. It has a modern fitted kitchen , open plan lounge/diner with wood burner, Satellite TV & views of the valley below. There are three lovely bedrooms - all with ensuite bathrooms and excellent showers. The house is named after the mule who used to occupy what was formerly a stable off the courtyard. Rest assured, the mule doesn't live here any more!
This house is adjacent to Casa Colmena (2 bedrooms & pool) and the two can be rented together for larger groups.
In addition, Casa del Mulo also has a tiny separate 1 bed annex (El Mulito), furnished in similar style. El Mulito has its own entrance and can be rented together with El Mulo or separately. Together Mulo and Mulito can sleep 8. If you would like further details on El Mulito please enquire directly.
Casa del Mulo is situated in the tiny village of Saleres - as traditional a hamlet as you will find anywhere in Andalucia. The church is highlighted in guide books as worthy of a visit and it is possible to make some pleasant walks down to the river and up onto the hillsides above the village. The people of Saleres are delightful in the main, polite, helpful and generous to a fault with their time and possessions. There are no shops, but there is a small market once a week in the bottom square in front of the olive mill. When it is not market day, the village is serviced by dozens of white-van-men who drive into the square at all hours, their horns screaming like banshees. The local women can distinguish one horn from another. There are three different bakers who each come three times a day; plus the egg-woman; the frozen-food man, the red-meat butcher man, the chicken-meat-man and just about anyone else who has ideas of selling anything. The village "bar" is in the main square (the door hidden behind an old striped curtain) and very basic! The village has a wonderful fiesta in October.
