Property - Local Facilities

Casa Barbara is a recently renovated village house, with beamed ceilings throughout. Off the ground floor entrance hall, there are two bedrooms plus a winter sitting room with wood-burning stove. Electric panel heaters make this cosy in winter too. Upstairs is a fully fitted kitchen with dining area; and a large airy sitting room opening on to the balcony. Above is a spacious roof terrace with views over the village and beyond to the mountains. The house is centrally situated in the rural village of Pinos del Valle, a few minutes walk from a bakery, bank, pharmacy, several shops and the Bar Venecia on the main street. There are many local walks in the area, and around the nearby lake, which lies in the centre of the valley.

Pinos del Valle is a small traditional rural village in the Lecrin Valley, situated at the southern end of Beznar lake, about 8 minutes from the Granada-Motril dual carriage-way, and about 25 minutes drive from the ancient fabulous Moorish capital of Granada. The coast, to the south, can also be reached in 25 minutes, while the Sierra Nevada ski slopes south-east of Granada are about an hour away. The tourist villages of the Alpujarras Mountains are less than an hour's drive and the highest road in Europe (to Treveles) can be reached - unless you prefer to linger in the picturesque villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira. Here there are innumerable opportunities to browse among the many small shops selling local crafts and produce: rugs galore, fig-cake, meringues with almonds, local wine, honey, cosmetic produce, jewellery, leather moccasins and sandals etc; plus several workshops to explore. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants.
