Property - Local Facilities

Villa Acequia is a substantial house with attractive pool and garden area, completely restored and renovated in the winter of 2006.

The ground floor offers the first of the house's two living-rooms (this one with a cosy fireplace for the winter months) and a fully equipped kitchen opening on a patio-garden with pool and fountain, brick BBQ, outdoor dining area and garden furniture. There is also a ground floor bedroom and a shower room/WC.

The first floor has the Master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, 2 further double bedrooms, a large family bathroom and a study bedroom with a further 2 beds.

On the top-floor of the house there is a second large sitting-room (this one equipped with a TV) - opening onto a rooftop sun terrace with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside - the perfect place to unwind with a cool drink at the end of a summer's day and watch the spectacular sunsets.

There is electrical heating in every room in the winter months and linen and towels are provided. There is free car parking in the village square close by (1 min walk).

Acequias

Acequias is a tranquil white village (150 inhabitants in winter, 300 in summer) bordering both the Lecrin Valley and the Sierra Nevada National Park, which dates back five centuries. It is surrounded by three biggest villages (Lecrin, Nigüelas and the biggest one: Durcal) all at less than 3km. These three villages have shops, bars and restaurants. You can walk across the fields to the pretty, neighbouring village of Niguelas for meal in one of the excellent local restaurants in about 20 mins...and stroll home under the stars.

In Acequias, there are daily deliveries of bread and vegetables and small traveling “supermarket” visits the village several times a week. Listen out for the tooting of the horns and run out to join the locals buying their bread from the "panadero".
