This wonderful Marquesa's mansion dates from 1492 - the year Columbus reached America. 500 years later it was immaculately restored along with its outbuildings. The splendid Moorish gardens have also been rescusitated - with tall palms, sculpted hedges and exotic lilies, and a pool and tennis court for good measure. Paths lead to a belvedere, perched above lush chirimoya groves and dwarfed by the rugged peaks of the Sierra de Chaparral: as stunning and romantic a spot as you could wish for.

The interiors do not disappoint: there's a splendid, vaulted drawing-room on the ground floor, and a dining room and games room too; upstairs are 11 stately bedrooms (2 of them perched at the top of the tower), with tall ceilings, antique furniture and garden views. If you are planning a house party, conference or wedding, and looking for a stunning Mediterranean location, then look no further.
La Palacete is also a convenient base from which to explore the area. Historic Granada (approx 50 km), the Sierra Nevada and the Alpujarra mountains are all within a short drive of the property. Those interested in more active pursuits will find a huge choice of sports nearby, from deep sea diving to hanggliding. The sea at Almunecar is about 15 kms away.
The property comprises the mansion house, a separate cottage with two bedrooms, spacious ornamental gardens, the chapel, a pool, tennis court, a stunningly converted Olive Mill which seats up to 100 for large-scale, indoor dining functions and an outside bar and eating area - all with magnificent views. The manor house sleeps up to twenty in eleven bedrooms (five doubles and six twins), all but one with en suite bathrooms. There is a drawing room with vaulted ceilings and marble fireplace, a spacious and rustic kitchen and a stunning dining room (with timbered ceiling) leading to the garden. There are two more double bedrooms in the courtyard cottage, which has particularly fine views.

Weddings and the Chapel
The Palacete de Cazulas is the ideal location to celebrate your wedding reception in the sun. Something a little different and more special. The main house and annex cottage can accommodate up to 24 persons. Local accommodation is available for additional guests and there is also a wide selection of hotels in Almunecar where they can stay after your reception.

The Chapel
You have exclusive use of the property throughout your stay .The property is let on a self catering basis with staff available if required.
The gardens and terraces can accommodate up to 110 guests comfortably for the reception, or for the cooler months of the year we now have a NEW indoor dining room in the "Old Olive Mill" which is available for large scale functions. Seating capacity 80-100 persons.
The Chapel will seat up to 45 and a maximum attendance of 70 persons (the remainder standing).
Services can be arranged through our wedding co-ordinators if required, who will be pleased to quote on all aspects of your very special day (live entertainment, taxi and coach transportation, hotel accommodation, catering and all the necessary services).

Inside the Chapel
The Chapel
The chapel was constructed around 1890 by the De Castro family, owners of the Palacete de Cázulas and its surrounding estate since the 16th century. Over the last few years the chapel has been fully restored to its former glory. A delightful statue of the Virgin of Lourdes presides over the altar which is more than two centuries old. Carved and colourful saints look down from the walls and the original plain marble font stands beside the entrance. The chapel's lofty vaulted roof and high windows provide the correct subtle lighting and atmosphere for an intimate ceremony.
Power outlets are available for extra photographic lighting or taped music.

The house has been elegantly and thoughtfully renovated so as to preserve its unique atmosphere and outstanding historical features, including some of the original furniture.

The Gardens
The extensive ornamental Moorish gardens have been laboriously restored to their former glory - offering guests the opportunity to wander or relax in total peace and tranquility surrounded by centuries old palm trees, shady borders and colourful exotic plants. Ancient cypress hedges border an attractive swimming pool that is fed by a natural spring.

Optional pool heating is now available by separate arrangement (usually only necessary from November through to April).

There are several large terraces available. The main terrace with magnificent views over the valley and the village of Otivar has a seating capacity of up to 110 persons and is used mostly in the summer as a superb sun bathing area.
There is also a hard surface tennis court is located adjacent to the summer bar and terrace.

Important notes
- The courtyard cottage is available when the main house is full .
- Rental prices are quoted on a self-catering basis and the prices do not include cooking or extra maid service.
- Extra maid service can be provided at €8 per hour and a cook at €12 per hour.
- All extra cooking or cleaning packages should be arranged in advance of arrival.
- Bookings can only be confirmed after we have received a 25% deposit.
- There is an optional Pool Heating charge of €250 (November to May). At least 2 weeks notice required.
- There is a Final Day cleaning charge of €250 applicable to all groups having functions.
- There is a winter fuel charge of €250 p/week, applicable during the Mid and Low seasons.
- The above extras are payable in cash on arrival.
